For
the Best
by
Matthew R. Staley
There was a time when you were mine or so
they tell me
Now here I am, half the man I might as well be
I’ll never know, never accept what I’ve been
told
Life’s not worth living through a blindfold
How do things change from a handshake to
a fist?
From a blessing to a curse? There must be more to life than
this
Lies spread like fire, will the truth ever be heard?
Some questions are better left unanswered
Nothing is free unless there’s a
reason (what’s done is done)
I need to know the truth and I need to hear it from you
(there’s nothing that I can do)
It’s all because of you, I must confess (I can’t
forgive and I can’t forget)
So, don’t tell me it’s for the best
Take nothing for granted in life
Nothing goes as planned but it all works out in the end
Live each day as if it were your last
We think we understand until everything gets out of hand
There comes a time in all our lives when
we must choose
It’s always for the best, sometimes we win even when
we lose
Only time will tell if it’s too late to clean this
slate
It’s just as well, you’ll have to live with
the choice you made
Nothing is free unless there’s a
reason (what’s done is done)
I need to know the truth and I need to hear it from you
(there’s nothing that I can do)
It’s all because of you, I must confess (I can’t
forgive and I can’t forget)
So, don’t tell me it’s for the best
I hate you for what you made me
I hate you for what you made me
Take nothing for granted in life
Nothing goes as planned but it all works out in the end
Live each day as if it were your last
Everyone’s your friend until everything gets out of
hand
